DIY Frosted Tips

So I had been wanting to dip dye my hair for a while but I was back and forth because I sometimes think it can look like grown-out roots which means I have technically had dip dyed hair before.  It wasn’t until I saw  Shannon’s hair from CheapFrillsandThrills that I thought ‘I must copy.’ She has brown hair and very blonde tips so I just followed her instructions and ‘frosted’ my tips. Yes the name is a throwback to the 90s frosted tips that the guys used to sport. Why didn’t I get a L’Oreal kit? I don’t know I wanted to make it blonder and I thought I could easily do it on my own.

I used:

  • Jerome Russel Hair Lightening Kit (you can use a bleach kit like this one or buy everything separately)
  • Gloves
  • a bowl
  • a little brush
  • a plastic bag
  • I also used a cheap blond hair dye from Superdrug to tone it after I bleached it

1) Put on your gloves. Mix equal parts peroxide and bleach until it is completely mixed and yogurt-like. I didn’t require much just of the tips.

2) Put your hair in a half ponytail. Apply the bleach to desired part on hair. I did mine about three inches up the ends. Make sure the very ends are completely coated with bleach. (Sorry for my face I’m pasty and not wearing any makeup)

3) Put the rest of your hair down then finish the tips of your hair. Don’t worry about getting a bit of bleach on other parts of your hair this will usually not show up.  After you are finished use a plastic bag put the bleached part in it and tie it with a hair tie. Wait 60-90 minutes depending on your hair color. ( I waited 90 mintes

4) Remove plastic bag and your hair will look something like this:

Wash and condition your hair and then blow dry or style as desired. I waited a week then used blonde hair dye on the tips to tone it up and voila! What do you think? My hair looks a bit darker in this picture I think because of the lighting but it actually has quite a nice effect! Are you brave enough to do your own hair?

I Wear Cheap Lipstick!

I use a range of different Makeup from high street to department store but one of my favorites is MUA because its soo cheap most of their range is 1£. I also always get complimented when I wear their lipsticks!!!! So this is my little review/test for you.

The Contenders:

Shade 13, Shade 12, Shade3 , Shade 15, Shade 16

The Corals:

Shade 15-Juicy and Shade 16- Nectar

These two are quite similar in color and I love them for a coral nude. Since they do stick on every crack of your lip because I feel they are more like a balm I put on some nivea cream then a little bit of foundation before putting them on.

The Pinks:

Shade 3, Shade 12

These two pinks are soo cute. Shade  3 is bright pink and is a good day alternative to red. Check this post out for another view of the color! This one doesn’t dry out your lips and last quite long but it does transfer easily!  Shade 12 is pink with glitter in it and it is buildable. You can layer it for a darker pink or keep it simple.

 RED:

Shade 13

Finally there is Red! I love this color. It is bright red and I swear I get random people asking me where I bought this. Also I have had to buy it for so many of my firiends from the states. This one doesn’t dry out your lips and last quite long but it does transfer easily! Check out this other post for another view of this color!

What are your fave summer colors? Do you have any cheapies? Or even expensive ones that you really like?

I am obsessed with color!

I haven’t always been a nail polish person  but over the passed month I have found myself not stepping out of the house without a proper nail varnish! These are the great little jewels that I have acquired:

No 7: poolside blue—–rich color 7.50 (pounds)

Rimmel: black Pearl  and grey matter —–so easy to put on because of the thicker brush ~ 4 pounds

MUA: Shade 04 and Shade 05——lovely colors, easy to put on and just 1 pound!!!! (at Superdrug)

What are your favorite nail colors?

Love,

Natalia
