Style Icon: Annie Hall

The other day I was watching a movie with Diane Keaton in it NOT Annie Hall but then I was reminded of Woody Allen’s movie and I became obsessed with looking for pictures of her style. I remember watching this movie when I was younger and being in awe of her manish clothing.  It also reminded me of one halloween when my mother dressed up as a man and despite looking quite cool in her slightly oversized mens suit and hat,  I wouldn’t go near her because I was afraid  (I was 5). Anyway here is some inspiration below. Note the short-sleeved white-collared shirt and scarf in the first picture is one I still tend to recreate.

All Black turtle neck and cool sunglasses

Nerd turtoise shell glasses, high wasted palazzo pants and a flannel shirt

Tweed blazer, scarf, brown degrade sunglasses

Tie and vest need I say more.

Style Icon: Veronica Lake

Veronica Lake was an American Actress most popular in the forties. Up until this day people are in awe of her hair. Everyone wanted Veronica lake Hair. I know I am all about 1960s but lately I have been really interested in the 30s and 40s it could be because it is having a resurgence in current fashion trends (hair, makeup think: Lana del Rey, Rihanna) or it could be because my MA concentrated on the Fashion of the interwar period (1919-1939) but its probably a mixture of everything. I hope you like this selection of photos that I have found across the web. Below is a tutorial for Veronica Lake inspired hair and makeup  by pixiwoo (which I love) let me know what you think about her?

Makeup, Hair and Jewelry Inspiration

images from www.mfpepe.com

In case you haven’t noticed I LOOOOOOOOVE (and yes I can add more ’0′s) the sixties and neo sixties style. This is why I keep posting about Lana Del Rey;  I can’t get enough of her style. That said, it is no wonder why I found Maria Francesca Pepe’s Spring/Summer 2012 Lookbook inspirational on so many levels. I have just bought nude/pinkish lipgloss from mac! Also I love how her jewelry is edgy but some how still manages to look uber feminine! Come on a safety pin-heart-brooch? chains around your thighs and chest? What do you think?

Style Icon: Nancy Sinatra

After all this Lana Del Rey research for the videos,  I started looking at Nancy Sinatra because Lana Del Rey calls herself a ‘gansta Nancy Sinatra’ so naturally I looked for pictures of Nancy Sinatra’s style. I don’t necessarily find   find her clothing combinations or even choices that cool it’s more the aura she brings that gives her style (her hair and makeup helps as well). When I look at Nancy Sinatra I don’t see clothes I see style!! This kind of reminds me of that quote by Coco Chanel ‘A woman is closest to being naked when she is well dressed.’

What do you think?
