DIY: Louis Vuitton Feather Bag (in 30 minutes)

Louis Vuitton Feather Bag Fall 2013

I have been really wanting a fur or feather bag for a while but had put it off until I figured out that I could buy Marabou feathers (from the Marabou stork) and make my own. I was inspired by the Louis Vuitton Fall 2013 ( above)  and the Topshop Marabou bag. It literally took me half an hour to make and turned out alright I think!

You Need

  • 5 ft- Marabou trim (from ebay usually about 2.50 per foot) in what ever color you want
  • 1X clutch bag with or without chain (I bought this one for $3)
  • 1X thin chain to your liking
  • Needle and thread

1) Wrap the trim around the bottom of the bag about 2 inches up from the end. Cut to the correct length.

2)Sew the trim onto both sides of the bag on so it makes it easier to sew the middle. It is easiest if you insert the needle like below and keep doing a straight line throughout.

This is how the first line will look.

3) Once you are done with the first layer sew another fringe two inches from the first one and continue doing the same until the top.

4) If your bag already has a chain don’t worry if not, thread some thread around the end of the chain and then sew it to the sides of the bag.

This is the result….what do you think?

Some transitional pieces.

This is me in Dusseldorf, Germany a couple of weeks ago. I think ever since then some of these items have been my “go-tos” with this in-between weather in London. They are my ASOS floppy fedora, my leather jacket and my clear stockings. I pretty much pair these items with everything; shorts, skirts,  dresses. I think I’ve said this before but I am particularly obsessed with clear stockings  I think they look super sexy but still kind of keep you warm and tone your legs a bit down ( no need to worry about the legs thing in California).  I feel like in London stockings are definitely a go to for everyone, I guess because it can get so cold.  I remember the first time I saw girls wearing jean shorts with black stockings I was living in  Paris and I saw these British girls (they were talking out loud) in black stockings with shorts and their coats over. I thought this looked kind of funny or at least I did not instantly warm to the look but now I feel as if its natural. Okay well I guess thats enough talking from this end! Have a good day!

I am wearing: Hat: ASOS, Dress: Zara, Jacket: Forever 21, Boots: French Connection, Bag: Vintage LV

My Friend Mouts…Or my DIY Bag charm.

A couple of weeks ago, I was in desperate  need of a bag charm (okay more like a really heightened sense of want) and well I had the idea to hang little trinkets and charms on some  left over chain but well lets just say what I had didn’t go well together. Then I had the brilliant idea to use one of these little knitted sheep the bf’s grandma gave us(which I always threw in his bag whenever he was leaving and made sure to carry mine around!…aww…it was a good laugh) anyway i hung the sheep by the neck to look like my pet since I can’t have one and I named him Mouts (short for Mouton). Anyway what do you think about my little pet charm?

Love,

Natalia
