Do you wear ‘fake’ bags?…DIY
A couple months ago my friend Diana (again ; p ) brought me this purse that she found from an antique seller and she said it was vintage Chanel. After examining it carefully; it’s not leather and the details are a bit scratchy, there is no label on the inside (and doesn’t seem there ever was) and the lining is made from synthetic Leather. I still really liked the shape and style of the purse but then I generally don’t like fakes. I rather it be a no name bag that looks very similar than a fake. Although then I can start getting really complicated and ask questions like: if its made exactly the same, with the same quality materials, and looks identical is it still a fake? What does fake even mean? What is real? You see the problem is that it would spur all of these philosophical never ending questions so I just find it easier not to even think about them.
Here is my compromise, I decided to write faux (french for ‘fake’) on the bag because I thought it would make some sort of statement about authorship and answer all of the questions without really answering anything at all. Anyway enough babble.
You Need:
- a ‘fake’ designer bag (or real if you are daring enough, think of the questions that would spur)
- a permanent marker
- a plastic ziplock bag
1)Use the bag to write ‘faux’ or ‘fake’ in the style that you like.
2)Place the bag on the purse to decide which position you want it in.
3) Write It on their. I wrote it free hand but you can outline it with pencil, use a stencil or have a friend do it.
TAH DAH! What do you think? About the bag? About the writing about life?
