Buy a pair of sunglasses and give sight to someone? + New shoes…

I apologize for the slow posting but I have been so busy working on my dissertation that’s due in a little less than a month! I can’t believe its coming so soon! For those of you interested, I am writing about the impact of blogging on the UK Fashion Industry (the world is too big).  I get a bit carried away when I am doing research and find my self instead buying things (interesting?).

Anyway Last week I was invited for a ‘blogger’s breakfast’ at the temporary Tom’s pop-up shop in seven dials (69 Neal Street, Seven Dials, WC2H 9PJ)  and I was really pleasantly surprised. I knew that Tom’s were  huge in the states for their ‘one for one’ motto (every pair of shoes you buy donates one pair of shoes to a person in need). Of course that still continues here in the UK but they’ve added on sunglasses and yes that means for each pair of sunglasses  you buy, Tom’s donates either medical treatment, surgery, or a pair of glasses to a person in need.  This is really big since some people in developing countries stay blind because they cannot afford a £100-200 restorative surgery (this means disability, no job, other family members have to provide more). I pretty much almost bought all pairs of sunglasses (because they are also cool looking) had it not been for my current lack of funds!

These are the sunglasses available which run about £110  I love that the sides feature blocks of color!

At the Seven Dials Store they have a basement section where you can design your own tom’s t-shirt for free. It was fun since the staff their were really nice!

These are the shirts that my friend Steph and I made. I just drew a Tom’s logo on the sleeve.

They also have a silent auction where artists have taken a pair of Tom’s glasses and created an artwork and you can leave a silent bid (cheeky £1 anyone).

Some of the designs I found cool:

My favorite was that you could make these little oragami Tom’s and each week one pair is chosen to be created on to a pair of shoes that you win!

An example of a pair of Tom’s that were created!

And last but not least, Tom’s was generous enough to let me choose a pair from their new collection so I chose these Sand Alarco Desert Botas . I like them because they are nude colored suede, which I think always makes your leg look longer. Also I think they are the perfect spring summer shoe because they have a cute little embroidered design but are still simple enough to wear to a festival, with cut-offs or a floral summer dress!

I decided to add a picture of me wearing them only so you could get the idea. Although I’m not a huge fan of the picture because I think the angle makes me look a bit bubbly on top with un-proportionate legs but really it’s that I’m a slave driver who makes my bf take pictures of me even though he doesn’t like to so beggars can’t be choosers. Also the weather is in a very grey mood and I feel if I tried to make my outfit more summery I would be deceiving everyone into thinking that it’s not so bad! What do you girls think???

Anyway go have a play at the Tom’s store! 69 Neal Street, Seven Dials, WC2H 9PJ (it’s only open for a few weeks on a test run so make sure you get there before it closes!)xx
