The Best Facial Ever

Last week I was Invited to try the 111SKIN Micro Pen Facial by Facialist Clare Peters at Neville Hair and Beauty  in Chelsea, London. I was super excited for many reasons, one being I haven’t had a facial in ages because I sort of stopped believing in them (more on that later). Another reason that I was excited was that I would be joining the likes of Cara and Poppy Delevigne as well as several other Fashion and Beauty Editors who had felt Clare’s magic hands. The salon in Chelsea is 3 or 4 floors of amazing beauty all over.  Clare’s room is a cozy little room with the most comfortable beauty bed. Now before I continue here is why I don’t like facials.

Why Facials don’t appeal normally to me:

After learning so much about high tech skincare, facial resurfacing lasers, skin peels, collagen stimulating devices, steaming and faffing around with lotions and potions doesn’t sound that exciting to me because, although fun,  its something I could do at home.

Why Clare’s Facial is different:

Its all in the products and devices that she uses combined with her amazing massage techniques. This facial literally exfoliates, lifts and relaxes, Clare takes any opportunity to massage and soothe your face while there is insense and gemstones creating a calm and relaxing atomosphere. The brilliant think is that this facial can be as bespoke as you want it as she can adjust the settings on the devices as well as the amount of time she spends on all of them. While it might seem a bit pricey at the start £150, the combination of resurfacing, lifting and pampering treatment is a fraction of what you would pay somewhere else for just a lifting or resurfacing treatment. I would definitely do this again possibly even once a month as a skin upkeep facial.

Before and one day after

My skin looks good on both days but after the facial its a bit more matte, deconcongested and overall clarity. Note: Im wearing sunscreen on both days no foundation.

The devices and products she uses.

  • Micro pen- an electric vibrating device with multiple needles that stimulates the skin to produce new collagen and reduce wrinkes
  • Venus Freeze- 10 minutes with this red light that works below the surface to make collagen tighter and lift the face
  • Y Theorem Serum- Healing serum used to stimulate the anti ageing process

  • Bio Cellulose Mask- Most advanced mask material used to cool the skin and deliver key ingredients to the face
  • Clare’s Massage Technique- relaxes your muscles and as a result reduces stress on your face that may have cause wrinkles

Right after the facial my skin was a bit pink from the stimulation but as you can see it already looks  more vibrant.

I definitely recommend you go see her if you need a little pamper session.

The best toner ever…and how to use one!

Very rarely do I rave about products, okay that’s a lie I always rave about products I love but I really do like this tonic. Now I know a lot of people don’t use a tonic but I always stress about the importance especially if you are using expensive serums or creams after washing.

What does a toner do?

A toner helps clean up whatever dirt or makeup is left over, it also helps transport whatever products you are going to use after the toner. The key is to choose a toner with NO ALCOHOL so that it doesn’t dry out your skin.

How do you use it?

After washing your face, use a cotton wool, squirt some tonic on it and smooth over face. Then wait three minutes and use serum or moisturize.

How to pick?(see my below)

If you want a standard toner, make sure you use one with out alcohol. If you have sensitive skin or acne-prone skin look for respective qualities.

MY FAVORITE

I always thought it would be hard to say that a tonic was my favorite because I figured they were all the same. I got 111Skin Ground Control Anti-Acne Tonic as a gift but now I can’t live without it. Although I’m in my twenties I still have acne-prone skin. This tonic helps current breakouts and has a mild antibacterial agent to prevent further ones. It is also soothing and  doesn’t contain any alcohol so my skin doesn’t feel dried out. It also helps reduce the effects that hardwater has on your skin. Overall I have noticed an improvement in my skin in terms of minor breakouts and skin tone. Although the product is expensive (£40) I think it is worth it!
